The building is designed as an addition to the Campanile campus south of the University of St. Thomas, adjacent to Houston’s museum district. Expanding upon the success of the Campanile campus, 4306 Yoakum continues to align design and value in a quickly expanding market.
Both the front and garage entries into the building feature Turrell inspired, floating architectural light-scapes that greet visitors with a lasting impression that resonates throughout the building. Unlike suburban developments, tight urban environments require imagination in their planning. With a very narrow site at 4306 Yoakum, we designed the 4 level 211 car parking garage to be tucked neatly behind and underneath the office tower. The garage’s ramps are invisibly concealed above the retail wing. The Palladian retail wing, with its cloister arcade in front, features a raised podium plaza, providing visitors with a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the street traffic below. The Palladian top floor features the popular “Verdict” inspired, semi-circular windows as seen in the 19th century Louis Sullivan office building in which Paul Neuman’s character officed in the feature film The Verdict.
