HOUSTON, TX

CANDENTE

Houston’s competitive market of eateries has a new Tex-Mex option that infuses it’s offerings with a rich barbeque tradition. In Candente’s effort to stand out, the look and feel of the space had to highlight the flash and sizzle that gives its food so much style. The kitchen opens out to the restaurant, fronted by a long bar, infusing the space with energy as diners watch the cooks work the wood-burning grill and one of few wood-burning Josper ovens in the Houston area — highly appropriate for a restaurant whose name translates to "burning" or "incandescent." For the dining area, accents of red and burnt orange pepper the design that features copper finishes at the bar and table tops. A floor-to-ceiling glass wall fronts Richmond Avenue and a massive covered patio, giving the restaurant a bright, open feel.
